Assessing and Improving with Technology

Assessments and using those results to improve performance are integral components of a classroom. As technology started to play a huge role in the classroom it became imperative that we integrate the use of technology for assessing and improving student achievement. It was with this in mind that I enrolled for this class and boy aren't I glad that I did.  It was a very informative and thought-provoking class with a great instructor and a wonderful set of peers who were willing to share what they were already using in class and how it worked or didn't work for them.

While I really enjoyed learning about infographics, digital badges, creating formative assessments using digital tools etc., it is learning about the Genius Hour that I enjoyed the most. Personally, it was very satisfying. It allowed me to tap into my creativity and gave a huge feeling of achievement. I am sure as an adult if I feel this way the students would love to work on something because they want to and not because it is required of them. It would bring out the creativity in them and it would also help them learn better because it is of their interest. I would definitely like to try this out with a group of students and see what they come up with. I am sure I too will learn from them.

  1. The Genius Hour module is usually the favorite of most people who take this course. It is in being forced to do it yourself, that many teachers realize how important this can be for our students.
