I am a substitute teacher at
District 204. I hold my teaching license in Secondary Education with
Endorsements in Mathematics and LBS1. I have also been an online Math
Count Coach for North South Foundation (a non-profit organization). Currently,
I am working towards getting a Technology endorsement through University of St. Francis.
Being born and brought up in
India and moving to the US a little more than a decade ago, I had to wait a
long time before being able to start working here. The waiting time was productively used to get my
teaching license here. The teaching license that I already had from India put me on a fast
track towards getting licensed here. I used to teach Mathematics and Science for
grades 6 through 9 in India.
I have two kids. My son is a Junior at University of Iowa and is working towards getting his Biomedical Engineering Degree. My daughter is a Freshman at Metea. She is a passionate classical Indian dancer and will be graduating from her program next year.
I started subbing when my daughter started elementary. At that time I felt it was important for me to be there for my kids and subbing gave me the flexibility to do that. Now that they are both older and much more independent, I am ready to get back to full time teaching. I am hoping that the added endorsements will make me more marketable.

Arts
and crafts are my passion and I try to find time for it. Founded SassUup, a start-up to amaze, inspire and uplift
the spirit of woman. I have displayed my items in a few fairs and also have
successfully conducted workshops for both kids and adults. I also regularly volunteer for the school PTSA.

It was wonderful working with you in our group Wednesday night. I think this course will help build your resume as you begin to enter the education field beyond a sub level with all the use of technology we are using in this new era! Having your own children who are in this new era of technology also gives you a lense beyond just being a parent but now as an educator as well!
ReplyDeleteSudha,
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to meet you and I agree with Stephanie that you have several advantages including the added endorsements you are working on. I did check out your SassUup facebook page and your art is beautiful.
Best of everything in all your endeavors,
Karen
